Route 642 (Smoketown Road) TO Caton Hill Road
study
The survey regarding potential transportation safety, congestion and bicycle/pedestrian improvements along Route 294 (Prince William Pkwy.) between Route 642 (Smoketown Rd.) and Route 849 (Caton Hill Rd.) is complete.
project purpose
The focus of this study is to assess the crash history and identify solutions to improve safety and congestion through the corridor that can be incorporated into a competitive funding application. The entire length of the project area is on the statewide Potential for Safety Improvement (PSI) list. Rear-end crashes account for a majority of the crashes along this corridor, but there are also pedestrian crashes that have the potential to be mitigated through pedestrian and bicycle improvements. Solutions identified should be sensitive to the need to preserve capacity for through travel on Rte 294.
