I-81 NB Ramp Terminal TO US 58 / Jeb Stuart Highway
survey
The survey regarding potential transportation safety and operations improvements on Route 11 between I-81 Exit 19 (northbound on-ramp) and Route 58 in Washington County is complete.
project purpose
The purpose of this study will be to analyze the operational and safety issues identified along US 11/US 58 between Exit 19 and the US 11/US 58 (Jeb Stuart Highway) intersection in Washington County. This corridor has a high number of crashes attributed to poor spacing between the intersections and various site access driveways located along the corridor. High traffic volumes with numerous conflict points along the corridor contribute to deficient operational conditions which impact the flow of traffic along US 11/US 58. It is also noted that when there is an incident along I-81 in the area, this corridor must serve as a detour route. The objective of this study is to identify cost-effective preferred improvement alternatives that address the deficient conditions and minimize ROW impacts.
