CU01: US 211

CU01 Overview Map

Blackwell Road TO Broadview Ave

Survey

The survey regarding potential transportation safety and operations improvements along Route 211 (Lee Hwy.) between Broadview Ave. and Blackwell Rd. is complete.

Project Purpose

The purpose of this study will be to analyze the operational and safety issues identified along US 211 between Blackwell Road and Broadview Ave. The segment between Branch Drive and Blackwell Road has been identified as a Potential for Safety Improvement (PSI) location. Significant congestion has been observed along the segment with back-ups resulting in a high frequency of rear-end crashes. The corridor has also been identified in VDOT's Pedestrian Safety Action Plan (PSAP) 2.0 as a Priority 3 location. Pedestrian facilities do exist, however crossing locations and facilities can be improved to improve safety and enhance mobility.

The study goal will be to identify cost-effective solutions that will improve the safety and operations of the US 211 network. Intersection improvements will also evaluate reducing conflicts with bicyclists and pedestrians and minimizing travel distances on roadways. The bicycle and pedestrian network will be evaluated and recommendations to improve safety and connectivity will be provided. The study team will also ensure that improvements are consistent with the Town's comprehensive plan and contextually sensitive with the New Town Warrenton Character District.
