Rte 123 (Chain Bridge Rd) TO I-495 Capital Beltway
Survey
The survey regarding potential transportation safety, operations and bicycle/pedestrian improvements along Route 7 (Leesburg Pike) between Route 123 (Chain Bridge Rd.) and I-495 (the Capital Beltway) is complete.
project purpose
The study focus is to assess operations and safety data in the study area and identify improvements that can be implemented in conjunction with the Rt 7 widening proposed for BRT from International Dr to I-495, with focus on the Rt 7 transition section at International Dr. Targeted Rt 7 improvements N. of International Dr. may be considered. The study will develop a cost-effective preliminary design concept that will accommodate the BRT alignment as well as congestion, safety, and bike/ped improvements, and a validated estimate to support a funding application. The BRT alignment segment along International Dr. will not be part of this effort.
